I was getting a few neighborhood cats hanging out on my roofed deck at night when it was raining. I purchased this product, installed it on the wall facing the deck and plugged it in. Have never had a cat problem since.

We have not seen any cat poo from last 3 days so looks like it is working great. I also has the option of charging it with USB if you don't get enough day light.
